Tete-beche (Bound with)

Many ILS find it easier for holds and circulation to have only one bibliographic record per physical item. Often when two items are found together, they bear some relationship, e.g., the same work in two languages, the pro can con of an issue.

Items with French and English text inverted are quite common in Canada, particular for Canadian government publications. They are called tete-beche, but the term is too little known by patrons to be used in a note.

Take as the prime source the title page of the first item (if not tete-beche), for a translation the original language, or if published simultaneously, the language best known by patrons.

Of not bound tete-beche, the note below would be adjusted, e.g., "printed on facing pages", "printed on horizontally divided pages", "printed in parallel columns", "printed on separately numbered pages".
