Large Print Cataloguing

3 December 2013

RDA does not recognize large print as content. The MRIs have "large print" as a media content term.

In the absence of the GMD [text (large print)], one may use "[Large print edition] as an edition statement. MARC field 250 is now repeating, so this may be used in addition to another edition statement.

One may add "(large print)" after pagination in 300 collation.

One may use 655 0 $aLarge type books. If the inconsistent LCH terminolgy is not acceptable, one could use 655 4 $aLarge type books.

Some record font size in 340$n, but this is rarely mapped to brief display where it would identify the genre for patrons. Patrons may not know how many points constitute large print, if that term is not also used in addition to points.
