Cengage provides spreadsheets . The various tables outlined below are related by an MCODE in each table, which becomes 090$e.

Matt searches by print ISSN, and supplies cataloguers with two files:
"Found" wolumeith supplied MARC records, and "Not Found", supplied with
protomarc records gleaned from spreadsheets.

Matt supplies the following fields/subfields to derived and protomarc records

Cengade's requirements below.

Overview:

The table format for the delivery of data has been selected to
facilitate populating the information from the vendor in the MARC
record creation process.

Information populated in the tables should be validated. Blank fields
should be populated.

Cengage expects the data in the following fields and subfields to
conform to RDA and MARC21 guidelines.

Key fields to be populated and/or checked (validated)

008
245
264 1
500
600, 650. 651; at least one LC subject heading required

Field: 008 - Continuing Resources

Major Positions that need to be populated:

06 - Type of date/Publication status
07-10 - Date 1
11-14 - Date 2
15-17 - Place of publication, production, or execution

Notes on this field and populating data in the positions:

06 - Whenever possible the code in this position should be either `c'
or `d'. Only if no determination of publication status can be
established should `u' be used. If this position is coded `c' then the
start date needs to be in both positions 07-10 and in subfield `c' of
the 260 field, and positions 11-14 needs to be coded "9999". If this
position is coded `d' then the start date needs to be in both
positions 07-10 and in subfield `c' of the 260 field, and positions
11-14 needs to be coded with the year that the item was last
published, this date should also be reflected in subfield `c' of the
264 1 and may also be added as a 362 field.

07-10 - The start date of the publication. If there is a question
about the date, a `u' can be used if the year is not known (200u or
199u); or if the decade is not known (19uu), if there is no
information about the date at all then the entire field may be
populated with `u' (uuuu). The information in this position should be
reflected in subfield of the 260 field.

11 -14 - Depending upon the coding position 06 of this field: if 06 =3D
`c' then the data in this field will be "9999". If 06 =3D `d' then the
data will reflect the last year of publication (or as much of it as is
known - for unknown years and decades, follow the protocols mentioned
above). The date in this field should also be added to the end of the
subfield `c' in the 264 1 field. A 362 field may also be added to
reflect the ceased date.

15-17 - MARC21 code for the most recent place of publication. Will
many times reflect the place mentioned in subfield `a' of the 260
field but may reflect a change of publication location - as mentioned
in a 500 note. If the place of publication has changed, this field
must be updated AND a 500 field reflecting the change of publication
must be added to the record.

In records for serial items, 15-17 reflects the place of publication
of the latest issue, iteration, or part. For serials, 15-17 may not
reflect the place found in the publication information because AACR2
bases cataloging on the earliest issue. If you are updating a record
and the place has changed, update 15-17 and add a note (5xx field).
